I’d like to meet the personal shopper who sold this vampire his getup. This is as over-the-top as a goth outfit can get. And yet it works. “But wait!” you intone. “You’ve always taught us to simplify, but now you hit us with this elaborate image. I am so confused that my head is whirring like a banshee. A banshee with a whirring head. Oh, darn you, cruel instructor, thy name is Christopher!”

Um, okay. Anyhow, for most images, busy means unfocused, cluttered, and distracting. However, sometimes a character is meant to be detailed, and it works better when it’s packed with stuff. For example, a teenager’s cluttered room is funnier than one where everything has been neatly put into drawers. Wait, bad example. There is no teenager’s room where everything has been straightened up.
